Steven Cartlich
Steven studied furniture making at London Metropolitan University and has worked at Kevin Stamper Furniture since 2004. His training process covered all of the essential areas for a furniture maker and he is now a highly skilled and creative craftsman who takes great pride in the quality of his work.
He is equally happy to work independently or as part of a team and can lead a project through from a workshop drawing to the completed installation. He particularly enjoys the finer aspects of cabinet making, such as inlay work and marquetry, and has infinite patience to achieve perfect results.
"When I was growing up, I had two main pastimes - football when it was sunny, making things in the garage when it rained. I love the way wood responds to careful working and how the whole character of a design can change depending on the grain pattern and type of timber used; the variations are endless and when you finish a complicated item the sense of achievement is enormous."
